So, all of a sudden, people in the online business world are finally starting to talk about “GDPR” - and it is becoming a big impending deal here in the US, but a big deal in the EU and UK.
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and is a EU law taking effect on May 25, 2018. , On a very basic level is designed to give greater protection to an individual’s personal information and how it’s collected, stored, and used. There will now be very strict requirements placed on companies that possess and process the personal data of people located in the EU and UK.
If you engage with prospects or clients through ANY online channels, through your online marketing outreach or on your email list who are in the EU or the UK...this DOES affect you, and compliance is mandatory as of May 25 of this year, 2018. Organizations that are not compliant could face fines of up to 20M Euros or 4% of a company’s global turnover.
